for individuals  -  for teams  -  for results

To finish off our series of new TMS energisers, let’s look at your sense of touch. This interactive activity is great in programs to remind participants that people approach the world in different ways. This is an important lesson to drive home because if people appreciate and understand how to maximize diversity they are one step closer to becoming a high-performing team.

Here are three simple steps for this energiser:

1. Gather together some inanimate objects and place them in a covered box. Choose objects that are unusually shaped and have interesting textures. Pet toys and Halloween supplies work well especially fake eye balls. Remember to let participants know that nothing in the box is alive!

2. Ask participants to one by one place their hands in a box and guess what the objects are without looking. To further bring out individual differences adopt the game show host strategy of encouraging people to talk through their thought processes. This can provide insight into how they make their final decision.

When using Team Management Profiles this is a simple way of highlighting the third RIDO scale which looks at Analytical and Belief-based preferences for making decisions.

3. Once everyone has had a turn, open the box to reveal the truth.

So there are your five new TMS energisers!

Try them out and let me know how you go. I would also love to hear your own favorite energisers.

Warm wishes,
Sarah Eqbal
