I attended the Thought Leadership Summit recently in Brisbane and was very glad I did! I met some very interesting and inspiring people from whom I could learn a lot. The format was “open spaces” - very informal and unstructured – which suited us, as those attending seemed to be very flexible and open to a new experience.

When Tony Hayward became CEO of BP 3 years ago, I doubt he signed up for the kind of damage control that he is presently engaged in. Tony is now in crisis leadership and needs a steady head to steer BP out of the fire.

 
There are many ways you can help teams improve performance. You can help them understand themselves and others, you can help them identify gaps in critical work functions, and the list goes on. But if you zoom out from all this for a second, there is one other crucial yet quick activity you can do to enhance team performance. This is a team pulse check.
