Training Tips: Split Wheels
A number of our Network Members have recently got in touch with questions about Split Wheels. Here are some of the common questions that came up, along with how to answer them!
Q. What is a Split Wheel?
A. The majority of Team Management Profiles (TMPs) result in major and related role preferences that are adjacent on the Team Management Wheel. In the picture below the major role is Assessor-Developer, with the related roles of Explorer-Promoter and Thruster-Organiser falling either side.

Good things come in 3s

Sarah’s post from last month inspired me to run an exercise in a TMP debrief session recently.
Working with a group of senior leaders within a leadership development programme, we had plenty of fun and generated a lot of constructive discussion by using a variation of the Speed Dating exercise that Sarah described.
FC Business Solutions takes TMS to the next level

Amazing People of Sydney - A Few Words from Charles Margerison

G'day!
How did Governor Phillip lead his team and manage the convicts to develop the foundations of Sydney, New South Wales and our great country of Australia? In 1788, he took on the role as our first Governor. It is an outstanding story of leadership and teamwork that I have written about in a book called Amazing People of Sydney. It provides proud and personal stories of those who have developed our country.
State Library of Victoria Keeps TMS on the Agenda

Every now and again we run sessions for our valued clients to help them revisit their Team Management Profiles and discover new ways to apply it to their everyday work.
Winning More Facilitation Work
Many facilitators don’t think about selling. Very few (if any) can afford not to. This is the feedback we regularly receive from accredited TMS facilitators which is why we’ve written this article.
What happens when the client who was your bread and butter doesn’t require your services anymore? Or, the work that you have scheduled in your calendar for the next six months has been put on hold because your client is going through a restructure? Guess it’s time to think about selling!
Form to Perform: Tuckman & the TMP

So how does the Team Management Profile (TMP) work in relation to Tuckman’s model?
In short, the TMP helps to fast-track the team’s development and get the group to the Performing stage as quickly and smoothly as possible.
Linking with Others – influencing skills for your team
One of the core teamwork models of Team Management Systems is the Team Management Wheel. This provides a feedback report – the Team Management Profile- which identifies a major role (e.g. Thruster-Organiser) and two related roles, which usually account for the majority of the respondent’s work preferences. Work preferences are simply a measure of those aspects of work that people enjoy.
When there is a two-thirds or more overlap between your work preferences and your critical tasks then your psychic energy will flow freely, resulting in less stress and greater happiness which, in turn, leads to improved performance.
